Ongoing investment improves productivity

Ongoing investment in J&J Zambia’s facility in Lusaka has helped improve efficiencies and reduce truck turnaround time, says general manager Oscar Gutierrez.

The truck staging area has been upgraded, and the ground has been levelled and compacted for a container park for empties.

Having empty containers on site also helps improve turnaround times for exporters, says Gutierrez. J&J volumes from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have been growing since the opening of the facility in Lusaka.

“Many shippers are finding that the port of Beira is more competitive than other harbours in the region for both imports and exports. “Beira is working well, and the port continues to improve,” he says.
