Work on a 66 kilometre stretch of Mozambique’s national highway – the EN14 between Lichinga and Litunde – has been completed to the tune of US54.6 million.
Co-financed by the Mozambican government and by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the road was widened from four to ten metres to improve traffic safety and reduce travel times.
The Lichinga-Litunde stretch is part of a planned triangle of roads between Lichinga, and the municipalities of Cuamba and Marrupa. Nyusi reiterated the determination of the government to close this triangle.
The China Henan International Cooperation Group (CHICO) completed the construction by end November and the road was officially inaugurated on Friday by Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi.
