September 7 will see the launch by the AP Moller-Maersk Group of a new logistics brand. The company will merge its supply chain management activities branded Maersk Logistics and its freight forwarding activities branded Damco, under the single brand name ‘Damco’. It’s all in the interests of simplifying and streamlining, says new CEO of Maersk Logistics and Damco, Rolf Habben-Jansen. “A new single brand will drive a lot of complexity out of our organisation and free up capacity, which we will use to focus on what our customers want to buy. It must be simple and easy for our customers to deal with us.” Damco’s 10 000-strong customer base spans a wide industry spectrum including multinationals from the retail, apparel, electronics and chemicals industries, as well as small independent importers and exporters. The company will offer a broad range of logistics services from forwarding and time-sensitive reefer logistics to advanced supply chain management solutions and consultancy. Commenting on the choice of branding,. Habben-Jansen said: “We have chosen the name Damco because it gives continuity to what we do.”
