Neutral consolidator pushes German service

CFR Freight’s airfreight
division is placing strong
emphasis on its export
consolidations and back-toback
solutions to Germany
– one of its most important
routes.
“From
September 1,
through to
December 31,
CFR Airfreight
will be running
a German sales
drive for our
import and export products,”
said Stephen Bishop, airfreight
general manager.
He said there would be a
number of specials running
over this peak period. “We
have a very strong partnership
with the Frankfurt-based
Saco Groupair, an airfreight
consolidator with whom
we have been running a
successful import service from
Frankfurt to Johannesburg
for a number of years.”
Currently the
company offers two weekly
consolidation services on
a day three and day seven
basis, using a dedicated
Lufthansa freighter.
“Our new airfreight rates
management system, which
we will launch soon, will
complement this sales drive,”
he said.
Bishop told FTW that the
rates management system
would offer full client visibility
into day-to-day airline freight
rates, providing access to
real-time best
pricing and
thus allowing
for better cost
management.
“We can’t
wait to empower
our controllers
and sales people
alike to start
driving this
important
value-added
service,” he said.
