Mozambique’s cashew nut production target for the current 2015/2016 season is expected to take a big jump from the previous season - providing valuable extra income for about 1.4 million households across the country and boosting its agri-export potential.
The latest estimate is a crop of about 100 000 tonnes, up 20 000t on 2014/15, according to the National Cashew Institute (Incaju).
And, said deputy director Carlos Mucavel, to achieve this target Incaju is to spray more than 4 million cashew trees and distribute over 3.3 million seedlings across the country.
