Drayage (short-haul) truck drivers for Pacific 9 Transportation who are seeking to organise a union said they had escalated protests this Tuesday by performing “ambulatory picketing” at marine terminals in the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
This while continuing to picket the company’s headquarters in the City of Carson, about 21 kilometres south of downtown LA.
The Pac 9 drivers, who have been on strike since July 21, said 38 drivers are waiting for a ruling from the California labour commissioner on wage and hour claims.
Meanwhile, workers at a California Cartage warehouse at the Port of LA also began a separate strike seeking to improve wages and working conditions.
