Mobile devices are changing the way we do business

Today mobiles and tablets are
closer to our daily life, more so
than laptops or PCs ever were,
according to Homith Hooseria,
marketing manager at freight
systems specialists, Compu-
Clearing.
Which is why of all the
various electronic solutions
incessantly evolving, perhaps
mobile technology is at the
forefront.
“It’s much quicker to browse
a website from a smartphone
than turning on the laptop,”
Hooseria told FTW. “And, as
much as we like it or not, we
are prepared to make some
sacrifices in terms of comfort
and detail, like the larger
laptop screen, in order to
achieve a more instantaneous
and rewarding response.
“With the freight forwarding
industry it is no different. For
example, if we want to check
a parcel delivery, most of us
have mobile bookmarks to
the popular courier tracking
websites. We can’t wait until
we are at our desks to find
out.”
While most freight
forwarders, transporters and so
on, still need to have a printed
customs release, or access to a
PC to check customs clearing
status, that’s about to change,
according to Compu-Clearing.
“We are now releasing a
free application that can run
on any mobile device, and
will provide immediate access
to our system to check for
SA Revenue Service (Sars)
releases,” Hooseria said.
What this offers is that,
as long as a mobile phone or
tablet has reasonable access to
the internet – and most mobile
companies offer that these days
– the agent will be
able to see the status of his
entries submitted, with as
much detail as necessary.
“This breakthrough is
possible due to the advanced
development technologies
used at Compu-Clearing,”
Hooseria added, “alongside the
availability of our systems at
several servers countrywide.
“This is part of our company
philosophy, to produce cuttingedge
development.”
