The value of any IT system lies not only in its available functionality, but also in the operator making the most of what the system has to offer. “Given the human tendency to resist change this may require some effort in both understanding the product and implementing appropriate procedures to maximise the return,” says Core Freight’s Jonathan Sims. “We have learnt that the most effective way to evaluate systems change is to consider the use of the application within the operator’s current procedures in addition to considering the value-add of the further functionality that could be utilised,” he told FTW. “The system should have the potential to enhance both the current functional requirements and provide for future needs.”
