KEVIN MAYHEW THE CONSOLIDATION market in South Africa – particularly to Malawi – remains positive, according to the owner of Johannesburg-based Umodzi Transport, Fred Mlombwa. Umodzi, which was established on container and break bulk transport services to a number of southern African countries, began consolidating for Malawian delivery as the first part of expanding its overall service to the southern African region. “We are coming up for a first anniversary as consolidators and remain very positive about the future of our operation which caters for parcels from one kilogram to the largest,” he told FTW. Mlombwa believes there is still a major market for relocating goods to Malawi for Malawians either working in South Africa or people coming to Gauteng by road or air on shopping trips.
