Maersk will divert a scheduled Cape Town call to the Port of Ngqura as it moves to recover delays affecting its MW1 service between India and Africa.
The Maersk Cubango 630E will omit Cape Town and call at Ngqura instead following delays on the Africa rotation and in West Africa, the shipping line said in a customer advisory.
The change will affect both import and export cargo moving through Cape Town.
All export bookings scheduled for the Maersk Cubango will be transferred to the next MW1 vessel, Maersk Florence 632E.
Import containers originally scheduled for discharge in Cape Town will instead be discharged at Ngqura and rerouted for onward transport to their respective destinations.
Maersk said the contingency measure was intended to mitigate the impact of the accumulated delays, recover the vessel's schedule and protect its on-time arrival back in India.
