THE G8 group of wealthy industrial nations has reaffirmed its commitment to fighting terrorism by sharing information on lost and stolen passports. “Unissued (blank) passports that have been lost or stolen represent a serious threat because they can be used to create a highly-trusted travel and identity document for any bearer,” according to a recent communiqu quoted by Reuters. In a separate develoment, a research and development programme is currently underway in the US for placing anti-missile systems on planes. The G8 comprises the United States, Canada, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Russia.
