South African suppliers with
a proven track record will
continue to see an increase in
business across Africa as interest in
the continent grows.
According to Kingfisher Freight
MD Alwyn Nel, business has
increased substantially during
2014 across all sectors thanks to
ongoing activity in Africa.
“We continue to see growth
monthly. There is a fluctuation
between the various modes
of transport and this is
predominantly dictated to by the
urgency of the shipment and cash
flow,” he told FTW. “We are finding
that shipment modes are dictated
by whether the cargo is delayed or
not. Often the mode changes to
accommodate arrival of cargo at
the final destination as quickly as
possible.”
Nel’s outlook for the continent is
extremely positive. “We continue to
budget for an increase in business
across all levels of transport as
we believe Africa has become the
bread basket for South African
suppliers.”
And Nel has seen a huge variety
of products moving over the last
six months, a trend he believes will
continue.
He said the Ebola outbreak in
West Africa was a concern for
companies working in Africa and
was being monitored carefully.
