As the freight industry braces
itself for another tough
economic year, recruiting the
kind of candidates that can
offer companies solutions
and business growth is now
more critical than ever.
“As per 2015 there will
most likely be a huge demand
for skills in the industry,
and a need for candidates
who can slot into roles
easily with little need for
training,” says Jill Morris,
director of specialist freight
recruitment agency, Lee Botti
& Associates.
She says candidates who
can offer diverse experience
coupled with a good
attitude will be snapped
up. “Companies need to be
proactive and move fast to
secure and invest in their
most valuable asset – their
staff,” comments Morris.
With an increasing
demand for skills in the
freight industry, the close to
half a million matriculants
from the class of 2015 could
look to this sector for gainful
employment. “Adequate skills
and training are a challenge
for the new entrants to the
market and there should be
greater focus on the training
and development of youth,”
Morris says.
