Increase in wine exports on the cards

The ocean freight division
of neutral operator
CFR Freight is upbeat
about volumes out of the
Western Cape for the year
ahead.
“We saw
a consistent
increase
in export
figures in
2016 and
believe
the region
will see
substantial
growth in
2017,” Cape
Town branch manager
Tracie Pelser told FTW.
With the Western Cape
anticipating an early wine
harvesting season in 2017,
an increase in wine export
volumes for the year is on
the cards.
Pelser said the seasonal
weather
challenges
remained
an obstacle
for Cape
exporters
with issues
like the
wind often
causing
havoc with
schedules.
“The
weather and its impact
on the port does at times
incur costs as it leads to
congestion and delays.”
