In the fast lane …

When Singapore hosted its first F1 Grand Prix in over 10 years last month as a night race, the focus was on the challenge for participants. But the logistics around the event posed its own set of challenges. In the run-up to the race, a series of high profile events was staged in Singapore, one of these the display of F1 cars in major shopping centres. According to Spedag managing director Ian McCallum, the M+R Spedag Group won the contract to handle the shipping, clearance and full logistics involved in the display of some of these cars. In co-operation with its partner in the UK, Spedag handled the logistics for McLaren, Williams and Ferrari – and this included peripheral goods like parts and promotional items. The company was responsible for the transfers and the setting up of the cars at various venues in Singapore.
