‘Importers ripped off’ FTW’s recent article alleging rate collusion among shipping lines (FTW September 23, 2005) has attracted significant reader response. These are some of the emails received: In my opinion someone should have stepped in a long time ago. Importers are being ripped off by all the surcharges being raised by carriers. It would appear that when they go to bed at night they pray that someone will have a dream about a new surcharge. How these guys get away with peak season surcharges baffles me. I suggest that this should be directed to DTI for investigation. Clive
