Grounded planes back in action

There was chaos at South African airports on Tuesday morning as several carriers – including Comair and South African Airways – were instructed on Monday night by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) to ground their aircraft due to irregularities during a recent audit by maintenance and technical service provider, South African Airways Technical (SAAT).

In a statement on Tuesday morning, Comair confirmed a delay to operations and said that a third of its services would be unavailable.

At time of publication, a few planes were fully operational while the airline predicted that the entire  fleet would be back in operation by Wednesday morning. – Bjorn Vorster
