GEODIS orders 110 electric heavy-duty trucks

GEODIS has placed a firm order for 110 electric heavy-duty trucks for deployment in France with delivery expected by May 2027, according to the logistics group.

The 44 tonne trucks, developed by Renault Trucks and Volvo Trucks, are intended for urban deliveries and long-distance transport. The additions will bring the electric fleet in GEODIS’s European Road Network business to 190 vehicles.

Charging infrastructure is being expanded alongside the fleet investment. Electric corridors along major French routes are being developed to provide charging opportunities every 250-500 km, the company said.

The network currently comprises around 60 charging points with plans to increase this to more than 200 by 2030.

The vehicle order and infrastructure programme are part of the group’s decarbonisation strategy and response to customer expectations, said Marc Vollet, Managing Director of GEODIS’s European Road Network.

“It is a major investment for GEODIS, in terms of fleet and infrastructure, marking our clear choice in favour of electrifying our fleet and integrating into our carbon dioxide emission reduction trajectory validated by the Science Based Targets initiative,” he said.
