RAY SMUTS THERE IS still no word on the fate of Ronnie Kingwill, MD of Capespan subsidiary Fresh Produce Terminals, who was suspended from duty over alleged irregularities on February 23. That FPT is playing the matter close to its chest was evident from a recent brief conversation with the chairman of FPT Dr Dawie Ferreira, who politely but firmly declined to enter into detail. “There is nothing to add to what has been said previously,” he declared, adding: “This is a very sensitive issue.” Ferreira announced to FPT customers in a letter dated February 24 that Kingwill, MD of the country’s largest portside fruit cooling operation since 2001, had been suspended pending the outcome of a “comprehensive investigation into alleged irregularities which may or may not lead to a formal disciplinary enquiry.”
