International cargo handler Swissport announced on Friday that its warehouse at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi had become the first-ever facility of its kind in Africa to receive Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators Pharma certification.
The facility, which was opened in Kenya’s capital in 2010, was certified by the International Air Transport Association following a host of upgrades.
These include a state-of-the-art temperature-controlled area and an advanced end-to-end cool chain delivery system.
The temperature-controlled area will provide exporters and importers with dedicated pharma rooms that will protect their pharmaceutical products during the transport process.
It can hold up to 250 tonnes of pharmaceutical supplies in either one of its specifically designed +15 to +25 Celsius or +2 to +8 Celsius rooms. Additionally, the warehouse also offers a special cooling unit (-10 to -20 degrees Celsius) for goods that need extra protection. – Bjorn Vorster
