The Maersk Congo, an extra loader that called at the Port of Cape Town to ensure the Western Cape’s grapes arrived in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom in time for the festive season, recently hosted a number of the shipping line’s customers while it was docked at the port. A total of 343 reefers were loaded at Cape Town Terminal on November 29. This is the second year Maersk has run the grape extra loader, partnering with its customers to ensure the cargo arrives at final destination in the best possible condition. It’s imperative that shippers have this time-sensitive cargo in European stores ahead of the Christmas period as part of their programmes with various food stores.
