Hong Kong has been identified as the first possible destination for a trade mission hosted by the Exporters' Club Western Cape (ECWC). As a registered industry association, the ECWC had been looking into the possibility of hosting local exporters on international trade missions for some time, said chairman Terry Gale. “We are hoping to visit the Hong Kong International Tea Fair, held in conjunction with the International Food fair, from 16-20 August next year.” Gale believes it’s a market of significant potential. “It’s easy to do business with this special administration region which enjoys, inter alia, duty- and VAT-free access as well as access to mainland China via one of its most prosperous regions, the Pearl River Delta,” he said. “Added to this is a regular, reliable weekly shipping service from Cape Town with highly competitive freight rates and a transit time of only 25 days.”
