THE DEPARTMENT of Trade & Industry is currently examining comments from the freight industry and other interested parties regarding the Industrial Development Zones planned for Johannesburg International Airport (JIA) and City Deep. A departmental report revealed that the JIA IDZ would cover a total area of 726 hectares comprising three sites on the southern, northern and eastern boundaries of the airport. The proposed City Deep IDZ will span an area of 848-ha sited to the west, north and east of the present container terminal.
