Danish maritime software developer Portchain has added another ‘big fish’ to its data network – the Dakar division of Dubai port and logistics multinational DP World.

This emerged after it was announced that DP World Dakar would be joining Portchain Connect in an effort to enhance the efficiency and speed of berth alignment with customers through digital data sharing.

The company stated that its partnership with DP World Dakar aimed to simplify communication channels and improve overall berth coordination.

By integrating with Portchain Connect, DP World Dakar will be able to receive real-time updates on schedules and moves directly from carrier systems, and quickly respond or counter-propose to align vessel schedules with the terminal's berth plan.

According to DP World Dakar’s planning team, the collaboration with Portchain is built on a mutual commitment to optimise the entire logistics process through data and cooperation.

Portchain Connect is designed to streamline the flow of schedule data, reducing the time needed to align berthing windows.

The platform allows terminals and carriers to share and receive high-quality data, minimising delays in information transmission. It provides users with a clear overview of their vessel calls and enables secure transfers of berthing information, eliminating the costs associated with manual, non-digital communication and improving schedule reliability.

Thor Thorupchief, commercial officer and co-founder of Portchain, welcomed DP World Dakar’s integration into the network, noting that the collaboration would unlock new possibilities for streamlined processes and data-driven decision-making within the maritime sector.
