JOY ORLEK APRIL 11 will see the launch of a new domestic airfreight option between Cape Town and Johannesburg. The service will operate five nights a week offering 4 ton capacity on a Hawker Sidley 748 containerised freighter. GSA for the service is Johannesburg-based Paradigm Freight Logistics. Using five standard LD3 containers that can be sealed, cargo capacity will be sold to agents as a unit allowing for up to 1 ton per container, per sector, says Paradigm owner Anthony Haynes. “The space is sold in a variety of options from market related ad hoc cargo rates to BSA agreements where preferential rates will apply dependent on term.” The first flight will depart Cape Town on April 11 at 21h00 with an ETA of 01h00 in Johannesburg, returning to Cape Town by 06h00 each week day. “The versatility of the aircraft allows outsized cargo to be flown in different configurations. A second aircraft has already been purchased and will be in service in three months time,” he added. Routing will be decided by market demand. The GHA for the flights will be announced shortly.
