The top achievers
will be given
further opportunity
to train overseas
BIRKART GLOBISTICS has put its money where its mouth is to provide training opportunities for previously disadvantaged South African youngsters.
In terms of a verbal agreement with the local head of the SA - German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Klaus Schuurmann, Birkart will train a minimum of five school-leavers every year. The training programme, which will culminate in a final examination, will equip them to become recognised international forwarders.
We believe that it's our responsibility as the private sector, said Bettac, and we have budgeted a substantial amount towards training. The top achievers will be given further opportunity to train overseas.
Birkart's training programme has already reaped rich rewards for local trainees who have risen up the corporate ladder to take up posts as managing directors of Birkart's Singapore, Malaysia and Australian offices.
