SAIL launches new Android service

South African Inland

Logistics (SAIL) has taken

its paperless mission to the

next level with the launch of

a new Android service that

enables customers to sign

for receipt of their cargo on

a wireless tablet.

“The device is integrated

to our personalised ERP

system,” SAIL’s Arvin

Badassey told FTW.

“It is controlled remotely

by a skilled and trained

group of operators who

electronically dispatch

deliveries from our ERP

system to

our drivers

with a

Proof of

Delivery

(POD)

wirelessly.

“The

driver also

then has

visibility

of his

uplift and

delivery

address

once he

has been

dispatched

on his delivery by our team.”

According to Badassey

the device automatically

updates the delivery onto

the SAIL system once the

driver has reached the

GPS co-ordinates linked

to the uplift and delivery

destination.

“PODs are saved live onto

our system

once the client

signs for the

container or

cargo,” he

explained.

“And these

documents

are available

immediately

upon request.”

SAIL has

urged delivery

destinations or

export packing

points to

embrace this

technology

and move away from

the manual signing and

stamping of documents by

confirming receipt on its

wireless device.

Documents can be

emailed to the respective

cargo or container handling

points immediately on

request.

“Our recent success

stories include uploading

PODs into clients’ systems

within minutes of delivery,”

said Badassey.

“Our next phase

of development is to

electronically integrate PODs

live into customers’ systems.”

INSERT & CAPTION

Our next phase

of development is

to electronically

integrate PODs live

into customers’

systems.
