Qatar will sooner or later
have to make a choice –
depend on Iran or give in
to some of the demands
being made by Saudi Arabia
and the UAE and negotiate
some kind of deal with
them.
That’s the view of political
scientist Jean-Francois
Seznec as the blockade
imposed on Qatar for its
alleged support of terrorism
enters its fourth month.
He said exporting
through Iranian waters
and airspace would become
increasingly more expensive
and over the long run
would see the price of its
commodities increase.
Seznec said he did
not foresee the situation
continuing. “I think we can
expect this crisis to continue
for a while still, but it will
be resolved sooner rather
than later. In my view Qatar
can simply not afford a total
dependency on Iran.”
