Own vehicles to be purchased INLAND TRANSPORT and logistics major Cross Country Containers has moved its long distance road transport service up a gear with the purchase of its own vehicles. “In the past couple of years Cross Country’s long distance road business has shown strong growth," says managing director Richard Foulds. "While the company will continue to sub-contract to quality road hauliers, there is a need to develop the business with our own vehicles,” he said. The first two vehicles have been delivered and these will be followed by a further 10 in 2005. “They will mainly run on a “hub to hub” basis with delivery to/from the ports and inland customers by Cross Country’s substantial cartage fleet,” said Foulds. “This will enhance delivery service and keep the long distance vehicles where they should be - on the road keeping our customers’ cargo moving.”
