Growing its African footprint
and increasing its f leet size
are two of the top priorities for
R&G Logistics in the coming
months.
The 100% black femaleowned
company has seen
consistent
growth since
it was first
established in
2006, gradually
making its
mark in what
remains a maledominated
industry.
According
to operations
director Gladys
Ncube, there
has been particular growth
in the hazchem industry and
the company has established
itself as a preferred vendor
moving cargo into Zambia and
Zimbabwe.
“One of our goals is
to increase cross-border
operations in the coming
months,” she said. “As intraregional
trade continues
to grow there will be more
opportunities for operators
working in the
region. Gaining
a foothold in
this market is
therefore very
important.”
She said a
major challenge
facing the
business was
its small f leet.
“We have in
the past had to
turn down good
opportunities simply because
we have a very small f leet.
Growing our f leet is therefore
an imperative if we
are to take
on bigger
contracts across the region.
“We are in the process of
developing a strategy that will
help us to upgrade and extend
our f leet over time.”
Ncube said the
logistics and transport
industry remained
extremely
competitive and
small companies
were not always
able to compete
with the big
players.
“We continuously evaluate
all our business processes to
maximise efficiency and operate
as effectively as possible. Our
goal is to become one of the
top logistics companies in
the country.”
INSERT & CAPTION
