'Carbon tax won't raise fuel price'

The introduction of a carbon tax in January 2015 is not expected to impact on the fuel price. The National Treasury earlier this month published the Carbon Tax Policy Paper for public comment. This was the second and final round of comments requested on the carbon tax policy before government proceeds with the publication of draft legislation that will give effect to carbon taxes. According to Dave Wright, a special adviser to Engen, this tax, which will be levied at refineries, will not see the price of diesel increase, as refineries are not expected to pass on the tax.
