The SA Chamber of Commerce and Industry Business Confidence Index (BCI) dropped by 2.2 index points between May and April 2010 to read 82. The BCI increased steadily to 84.2 in April but, with the decline in May, it is only 0.8 points higher than in January. This neutralised the gains in business confidence in 2010.
