Bunker fuel availability stability restored

The availability of both types of bunker fuel in the Port of Durban remains consistently stable after stocks dipped and supply dried up while the ocean freight industry absorbed the initial storm of Covid-19 and the effect subsequent lockdown regulations had on global supply-chain dynamics.

Under level five the availability of High-Sulphur Fuel Oil (HSFO) was the first to show the effects of diminishing demand, with the availability of HSFO completely drying up under level four.

That situation, however, has been completely reversed.

The severely restricted availability of Very Low Sulphur-fuel Oil (VLSFO) at the time has also been restored.

The latest USD price for HSFO at the port is $275.

The price for VLSFO released earlier today is $365.
