Army vehicles to Eritrea head list of project undertakings

A FAMILY-run clearing and forwarding agency - with a distinct speciality in project cargo movement - is what Johannesburg based Broli International is all about. “We are still doing general c&f,” Dierdre Broli told FTW, “but our project speciality is absorbing more and more time and effort.” This, according to Peter Broli, is best illustrated by the company’s order book for the last year - with three major project cargo movements already handled, and another big contract in the finalisation stages. Last June marked an army vehicles project to Eritrea, a controlled export item with a number of special conditions to be overcome, all of which were accomplished without a flaw. Later in the year, Broli was contracted to move the SA-manufactured machinery to a new Plascon plant in Malawi. Dierdre stressed that the success of such of project relies heavily on the communication between the supplier and freight forwarder. “That’s basically good project management with the need to ensure that the correct goods arrive at the right time.” The latest contract for Broli International is a project to ship mining equipment into China, each item weighing 28-tons, and of a size which does not lend itself to being containerised. “What really excites us is that this could very well turn out to be an on-going contract. “This because the initial order is a one year project but with the possibility of extension.”
