Airport-Walvis Bay logistics hub on the cards

As the next phase of the
development of the Walvis
Bay corridors, the Walvis
Bay Corridor Group
(WBCG) is planning a
logistics hub centre on the
15-kilometre road between
Walvis Bay and the airport.
The plan is to provide
air, road, sea and rail links
between Walvis Bay and the
rest of the Southern African
Development Community
(SADC) region, supported
by a full-service logistics
park, according to WBCG
chief executive officer,
Johny Smith.
It will be a Special
Economic Zone (SEZ) with
a range of incentives for
investors.
Plans for the logistics
hub are backed by the
government’s vision to
establish Namibia as an
SADC logistics hub.
