Air Menzies International (AMI) has opened a new office at Frankfurt Airport (FRA), part of the airfreight wholesaler’s European expansion drive.
With the new facility at FRA, AMI now offers door-to-door transport for imports and exports and consolidations on “Back2Back” cargo.
Included is its platform for express shipments, Click2Ship, X-ray screening and warehousing services, customs clearance, and supporting services for documentation.
Firming its foothold through Frankfurt is a strategic move for AMI.
Handling 1.8 million tonnes of cargo in 2020 made FRA Europe’s biggest airport, no small feat given the fact that the world found itself in a pandemic.
Air Cargo News (ACN) reported that via its new office, AMI clients had access to 300 destinations, offering exposure to 94 countries.
AMI chief executive, Jonathan Clark, told CAN: “Increasing our presence across Europe has always been a key component of our growth strategy.
“Germany is a major manufacturing hub in Europe, making it essential to have a presence there, and as the business capital of Germany, Frankfurt is the ideal strategic location.
“The addition of Frankfurt to our network means we now have 24 branches globally, with more planned to be added in 2022 and beyond.”
AMI’s FRA office will be headed up by Ingo Haupt, the company’s airfreight operations manager.
