Air carrier adds B777 to its freighter fleet

One Air has taken delivery of its first Boeing 777 Freighter at Boeing’s Everett facility in Washington, USA, marking a significant expansion in its airfreight capabilities.

The British cargo airline and affiliate of AIR ONE International Holdings, primarily serves major cargo hubs in Asia and the Middle East, with cargo transfer options connecting Africa.

One Air, operating from its base at London Heathrow (LHR), currently flies to key international cargo hubs such as Hong Kong (HKG), Bangkok (BKK), Delhi (DEL), and Dubai (DXB).

These routes focus on high-demand freight corridors, serving industries like electronics, pharmaceuticals, and automotive with scheduled and chartered cargo services.

The new Boeing 777 Freighter, with a payload capacity of approximately 102 tonnes and a range of 9 200 km, enhances One Air’s ability to handle large-scale shipments efficiently, but no African destinations are listed in its current schedule.

However, AIR ONE, through its subsidiary AeroTransCargo FZE, is pursuing a long-term fleet expansion strategy, which could potentially include African routes in the future.

The 777 Freighter’s range makes it capable of reaching African cargo hubs such as Johannesburg (JNB), Nairobi (NBO), or Lagos (LOS) from London, should One Air choose to expand into the continent.

For now, businesses seeking airfreight options to Africa may need to rely on One Air’s connecting partners or other carriers, as the airline’s operations remain focused on Asia and the Middle East.

Industry sources indicate growing interest in African cargo markets due to increasing trade and e-commerce demand.

One Air’s advanced tracking systems and 24/7 customer support could position it well for future African routes, but no confirmed plans for such destinations have been announced within the past 48 hours.
