Many of the province’s key industries – such as tourism and construction – saw above average growth last year, according to Alan Winde, provincial minister of economic opportunities. “In 2017 we saw business services and software and IT still dominate – making up over 40% of investment projects. Communications also drew greater investments with companies such as Microsoft and CloudFlare investing in the province last year. While we saw a decline in investment into renewable energy, IBC Solar made a large-scale investment of around $155 million last year, the largest US dollar investment of 2017,” said Winde.
