Zimbabwe offers big bounties for fraud info

Martin Rushmere

SOUTH AFRICAN aircraft sales and leasing operators now have more scope in the Zimbabwe market following that country's scrapping of a 20% aircraft leasing cost.
Zimbabwe has also abolished the duty on commercial aircraft spare parts as part of wide-ranging changes to customs and tax regulations.
And, in recognition of the rampant corruption involving customs duties, bounties are being paid for information on customs fraud, smuggling and related crimes. Covering both the customs department and private individuals, 10% of the amount of money recovered will be paid.
