Zim lifts ban on SA imports

The ban on imports from SA of animal products into Zimbabwe has been lifted, according to Lin Botha of Sediba Clearing and vice-chairman of the SA Association of Freight Forwarders (Saaff) in Beitbridge – the SA-Zimbabwe border town. Although not yet officially confirmed in writing, Botha told FTW that the information had originated from an official of Zimra (Zimbabwe Revenue Authority). Imposed on March 30, Zimbabwe’s ministry of agriculture said at the time that the restriction was “a temporary and precautionary measure” introduced because of outbreaks of Rift Valley Fever in the Gauteng, Eastern Cape and Free State provinces in February.
