FOLLOWING THE official finalisation of its incorporation into the Barloworld Logistics Africa stable, Z A Trans can now add its parent company’s solid Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) status to its name. The Barloworld Logistics BEE philosophy focuses on having meaningful BEE relationships and uplifting people, according to a balanced scorecard of activities, says COO Garth Schwikkard. The company has achieved a rating of 59% from Empowerdex, South Africa’s Economic Empowerment Rating Agency. Its priority in the current financial year is to lift its score in employment equity, affirmative procurement and skills development. At a corporate level Barloworld Logistics, incorporating all its subsidiary companies, is 25% owned by the BEE consortium Letsema, which has board-level executive representation and plays an active management role in the company.
