A new Ghana Air Cargo
Centre (GACC) was launched
in Accra at the Kotoka
International Airport (KIA)
this month.
A joint venture between
Air Ghana and the Ghana
Airports Company, the new
multi-million-dollar cargo
facility has increased KIA’s
cargo handling capacity from
50 000 tonnes to more than
70 000 tonnes annually.
The facility has a transit
area where large aircraft
can unload freight, plus two
large cold stores, a bullion
store, X-ray scanners and
24-hour CCTV cameras.
Swissport Ghana, a joint
venture company between
Swissport International and
the GACC, will manage the
centre.
