Warehousing package provides better control

RAY SMUTS HAVING RECENTLY completed two software applications in Gauteng, Cape Town-based Macro 2000 believes the strengthening of the economy has finally trickled down to small and medium enterprise level. The software company says the need to remain competitive is uppermost in decision-making. It's the reason why one longestablished Gauteng company decided on better software controls while another, a brand new venture, decided on up-to-date software at the outset. Both are involved in third party warehousing – that is, they charge for storage and services rather than store for own benefit. “The common theme,” says Macro 2000 marketing executive Anthea van Breemen, “is the degree of control offered by implementing a system to help control operations. “It does not replace the controls but by having a computer system to support the manual procedures one always has the necessary information at one’s fingertips.” These warehouses are able to offer their customers a complete picture of their stock balances and movements.
