Wakeford resigns yet again

LEONARD NEILL KEVIN WAKEFORD has again resigned from his position as chief executive of the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC) - and this time it is definite. Claiming frustration in his efforts to carry out his duties, Wakeford has said his decision is irreversible. The move has placed the ECDC once again in a state of disarray, with provincial premier Nosima Balindela shifting the administrative authority to another sector of her cabinet and the corporation itself declaring that because of the turmoil of the past year it is ‘falling short of carrying out its obligations.’ Wakeford had resigned during last year, a move which was rejected by premier Balindela and which resulted in a number of senior management officials being either dismissed or suspended from duty.
