LAST WEEK saw the official launch of airfreight solutions company MK Freight Systems in Johannesburg. Established by shareholders Mandla Mandela (chairman), Cacho Cabral (business development director) and co-director Mike Kruger, the company’s underlying objective is to promote exports and grow the economy. It already represents Stabo Air, Hewa Bora Airlines, Africawest Cargo and MK Airlines, and a new deal with an East African partner is due to be announced shortly, Cabral told FTW last week. “This will ensure coverage of West, Central and East Africa.” “But more than that, the group’s access to 747s, DC8s and AN12s serves the entire region on a charter basis,” chairman Mandla Mandela told FTW. “We will soon be able to carry your cargo to every corner of Africa, although our network already covers many remote areas.” The company serves 22 destinations in the region through its current airline network.
