RAY SMUTS IT NEVER rain but pours in Cape Town and it did so with a vengeance in the early hours of Tuesday (July 19) when a vicious storm put paid to container terminal operations for more than six hours. It also had irate motorists gritting their teeth, held prisoner for hours in their water-lashed cars, as traffic came to a complete stop. David Davids, planning manager at the Cape Town container terminal, said winds in excess of 80km/h had forced operations to shut down between 02:30 and 08:30.
