US urges investment in SA

The United States (US) Embassy in South Africa has urged Americans to invest in South African infrastructure and other development and private equity projects.

“Great economic opportunities exist for American and South African investors to create connections that will build infrastructure and contribute to prosperity for all,” said US Embassy chargé d’affaires, Jessye Lapenn.

Her statement follows the visit to Johannesburg and Cape Town last week by a delegation from US Mobilising Institutional Investors to Develop Africa’s Infrastructure (MiDA) who met with South African asset managers and financial institutions to explore investment opportunities.

“This programme is one of many win-win initiatives supported by the US Mission to South Africa to promote the mutually beneficial outcomes of trade and investment between our two countries.”

She said that members of the MiDA programme had already closed new deals totalling close to US$500 million in Africa.
