In 2014 the United States trucking trucking industry generated $700.4bn in revenue, according to the latest edition of American Trucking Trends. This is the first year that the industry has topped US$700bn in total revenue. It is also more than twice the South African Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of US$350.1 billion in 2014, according to the International Monetary Fund World Economic Outlook.
