Terry Hutson Although no official announcement has been made, FTW sources can reveal that Unicorn Shipping has placed orders with a Chinese shipyard to build another two 16 500-dwt products tankers for delivery in 2007. This brings to six the number of small new tankers on order – Unicorn has four 12 800-dwt vessels placed with South Korea’s Samho Shipbuilding for delivery between December 2005 and 2007. In addition the company has outstanding orders for five 37 000-dwt chemical/oil tankers with Shina Shipbuilding for delivery between 2006 and 2008, while sister Grindrod company Island View Shipping (IVS) has placed orders for three handysize bulkers for delivery from Kanda shipyards between December 2005 and June 2007.
