UK-based trade facilitation body, SITPRO, could find itself a victim of the latest financial crisis. According to Andrew Traill of the Shippers’ Voice, the organisation that has for almost 40 years has been at the vanguard of efforts to make international trade easier, is likely to be closed down as a result of UK public sector cutbacks. “For those that are involved in trade and transport documentation and customs procedures, the chances are that what you do today, may well have been directly influenced and made simpler because of the influence and work of this body. It’s time is ending, not because of lack of interest by industry, but because of government cut-backs,” said Traill.
